Some are already familiar in absentia with the boy Maxim Tolstikov, iron willpower, unshakable positive, thirst for life and sports.
On June 11, in St. Petersburg, as part of the White Nights program with the support of the Life in Motion Foundation and in Paphos (Cyprus) on the territory of the Baracas Lounge cafe with the support of our friends, a charity run was held, the purpose of which was to raise funds for prosthetics for Maxim, so that the boy could continue playing basketball.
Now we are opening a fundraiser for Maxim's arrival in Cyprus and we want to give him an unforgettable vacation at sea!
He deserved it!
The strength of mind and purposefulness of such children is admirable!
Here is the story of our new hero:
Tolstikov Maxim Artemovich
13 years old
Sarcoma of the tibia
At the age of 7, Maxim was initially diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma. We then lived in the Far East and flew to St. Petersburg for treatment. After completing the necessary course of chemotherapy, an operation was performed to remove the area affected by the tumor and an endoprosthesis was installed. We returned to the Far East. But, unfortunately, the prosthesis did not take root, Maxim spent most of his time in hospitals. We began to fly often to St. Petersburg for treatment. And at the end of May 2020, the doctors said that the leg should be saved fails, the right leg needs to be amputated above the knee. Fortunately for us, after the operation, we learned about the Life in Motion Foundation. And after 1.5 months, Maxim was walking on the first prosthesis made at the prosthetics center "I want to walk!".
Now Maxim can go to school every day without crutches!
After some time, we moved to St. Petersburg for permanent residence. Because there are more opportunities in a big city, and now Maxim is successfully playing wheelchair basketball, studying at school and attending classes at the quantorium.
In June of this year, for Maxim's dream of a sports prosthesis, representatives and friends of the "I want to walk" foundation ran the "White Nights" marathon. This is how we met Galina and learned about the Rainbow Foundation from her."
