Where a dream came true
The story of Timur is a difficult one. He was born with cerebral palsy and spent the first years of his life without a family.
Three and a half years ago, everything changed. Among hundreds of children’s profiles, Lisa saw his and decided to welcome him into her family. That decision changed her whole life. Ahead lay adjustment, treatment, rehabilitation, and many challenges. But most importantly, Timur now had a mom, an older brother, and a real home.
Today he is eight. And before this trip, he had never seen the sea. He often asked his mom what it was like and when they would finally be able to go there. For a family living near a war zone, this dream had long remained out of reach.
But in Cyprus, it came true.
Timur saw the sea for the first time, felt the waves, went swimming, walked around Paphos, discovered new places, and, together with his mom, attended the celebration marking the 8th anniversary of “Rainbow in Cyprus.” These were days when he could simply be a child- without treatments, procedures, or rehabilitation.
And Lisa, inspired by the island, picked up her paintbrushes for the first time in many years and painted “Mother and Child,” which she donated to our foundation.
Timur used to just ask his mom what the sea was like. Now he knows...
And another chapter has been added to their difficult family story - a sunny and happy one!
