Good afternoon, dear members of CF "Rainbow in Cyprus"! My name is Alexandra, I am a mum of a wonderful boy Roman, who for his 6 years has seen nothing but anaesthetics and surgeries....
I was contacted by Regina from CF "Angel of Faith", who told me that there is such a fund "Rainbow in Cyprus", which gives joy to our children and helps to realise the dream of our children - to go to the sea.
I, as a mum, really want my son to get positive emotions that will inspire my son to fight against the disease after difficult hospital days.
Roman is a little fighter who, despite the doctors' verdict, lives and fights for a full life!
My son has been diagnosed with Spina Bifida. This is a birth defect in which there is a spine development defect as a result of a violation of the closure of the embryonic neural tube. This abnormality in Romochka was detected in utero.
Immediately after his birth, the baby was taken away for urgent surgery. The son suffered two surgeries immediately after birth.
Fortunately, the skill of the doctors minimised the consequences. This is how my and Roma's life began, full of difficulties and joys of overcoming them, strong faith in the future and in each other.
And Roma's father, when he found out about the diagnosis, immediately gave up on his son.
During his 6 years he has already suffered 10 complicated surgeries, he bears his illness with courage and a smile, he does not despair for a minute, he trains hard, rehabilitates... And his main dream is to walk on his own feet!
Unfortunately, Spina Bifida has damaged my baby's lower body functions.
Despite the fact that my little boy does not walk, his life is full and very interesting. Roman is keen on robotics, likes to swim in the pool, attends acting classes in the training and production centre "Artvision", has already performed on the stage of the theatre "Legend" with a musical, attends sledge hockey, has been filmed for advertising. He already has medals and diplomas.
In 2022-2023 Roman has had 4 more complicated surgeries on his hip joints, Roman was plastered to his chest and so his son lay motionless for 10 months. Unfortunately Roman has seen only hospital walls, anaesthesia, surgeries and a lot of pain.
I ask you from the bottom of my heart to help my boy to see the world in other colours.
I would like my son to see the sea, which he has never seen before and to get a lot of bright emotions and light impressions.
With respect and great gratitude,
Mum Alexandra
