Hello, dear members of the ‘Rainbow in Cyprus’ charity!
My name is Oksana, and I live in Rybnitsa, Moldova. I am a single mother raising my son and daughter. Their father passed away suddenly whilst I was still pregnant with my daughter. My mum was the only one who helped me look after the children.
My daughter Lyuba was diagnosed with severe short-sightedness at birth (her current prescription is –11); she has been disabled since childhood.
I have devoted more than 25 years to working in a nursery school and am a highly qualified nursery teacher. Unfortunately, three years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. Due to the gruelling treatment, I had to give up my beloved job. I now have a Group III disability. As well as looking after my daughter, I care for my 84-year-old mum.
Our family budget consists of my disability pension and my mum’s old-age pension. My son Yevgeny is a great help to us — he even had to put his studies at the local university on hold to support the family.
My daughter has never seen the sea in her life. Before, my humble salary as a nursery teacher was barely enough to make ends meet, and since I fell ill, our financial situation has become even more difficult. I always support my daughter and tell her that she has a long life ahead of her: she’ll grow up, have her operation, see better and will definitely discover the world for herself.
I heard about your foundation from a friend. This summer, she and her special child visited Cyprus thanks to your support. They returned with unforgettable memories and immense joy.
I would very much like my daughter Lyubov to be able to experience these happy moments, see the sea and believe in miracles. We are very much hoping for help from kind-hearted people and God’s blessing.
Thank you for helping special families and making their lives brighter.
With warmth and hope,
Oksana
